In today’s machine shop we see the number of machine tools per shop increasing faster than the walls of the building can expand. With additional machine tools you also have an increase in the volume of chips. More machine tools within the same four walls means less aisle space for forklifts, chip carts and all other necessary accessories for running your shop.
CECOR’s goal is to listen, understand and react to client needs. While CECOR has a solid line of chip carts, we do some customization to our cart line to meet our customers specific needs. Recently a customer invited us into their shop and showed us their concerns with their dragout height & cart dumping issues. After a long conversation and a lot of listening we learned what their concerns were and the constraints we had to apply when coming up with possible solutions.
Put together a process that allows for carts that fit under their very low CNC dragouts, can handle the necessary chip weight, can be moved safely by one person and a safe dumping method that reduces the need for forklift travel.
In a matter of a few months and further discussion we worked with our customer to find an acceptable solution. Our customer is currently testing the process with positive results.
